Grappling with 2017

The coming soon is coming sooner. Long awaited, the second volume of the Grapple Annual is, I hear, coming this way. If not just around the corner, then surely it is just down the street and couple of blocks to the left. Some rough beast, its hour come round at last, slouches towards Canberra to […]

Billy Idol might be grappling with himself

Damn fine news. My story, ‘The Penultimate Report of Sergeant Burns’ appeared in the inaugural edition of The Grapple Annual, by which I was rather chuffed. Now my ‘The Golden Age of Science Fiction’ has been included in their second volume (along with 41 other pieces), entitled The Grapple Annual No.2, presently under preparation. Once […]

Thomas Hobbes, that funny fellow

Thomas Hobbes* said that life is nasty, brutish and short. He could have been speaking of my story, “Serial Killer Blues,” appearing in the most recent edition (volume 14) of ‘The Literary Hatchet‘. (Click on the link on the left to download the whole edition for free.) The editorial process for the story on the other […]

Big grins

I woke up on Wednesday morning to find three rejection emails waiting in my in box. Grumble grumble, oh well, do the editors all get together to co-ordinate this, grumble … Later that day, an acceptance from a magazine that had earlier asked me for some rewrites. Mood completely changed. And now, I’ve just had […]

Billy Ocean knew the Truth

Billy Ocean knew the Truth, that Love Really Hurts … don’t worry about the “without you” bit, no qualifier is required. And to prove it, the speculative fiction anthology ‘Love Hurts‘ (left click on the title to be taken elsewhere) is now available for purchase and your reading pleasure. Marvel at the fools love makes […]

Love Hurts

Love stories aren’t usually my thing, so I am thrilled to have a story – The Boulevardier –  appearing in this forthcoming anthology, out on December 1st. Love the cover. Luvity luv luv luv.

Affirmation

I’m fluctuating somewhere between ‘well, I must be some sort of author if I’m on an author page‘ and ‘don’t be so needy, Stevens’. I am however looking forward to the book coming out, and to ‘The Boulevardier’ and his bad French seeing the light of day.

Sergeant Burns

Sergeant Burns’ penultimate report (yes, there is a link there) ended up in last year’s Grapple Annual. I’m hoping he has a few more adventures left in him.

This Neil Armstrong is not dead

Gentle reader, after something of a drought, I am very pleased that a story of mine, ‘This Neil Armstrong is not dead’, has just been published in the latest edition of Cafe Irreal, and I am very grateful. I am particularly pleased that story has found a home. Click on the story title above and […]
