#30

So there is no real metric other than enjoying what I do. A writer is someone who writes, I spose. But when are you really a writer? When someone publishes your story? When someone pays you for a story? When someone pays you SFWA approved professional rates for a story? That happened once, early on. I assumed it was normal. As I said, it happened once. šŸ™‚ When you sell to the same market more than once? When you sell the same story to more than one market? When you sell 10 stories? Two dozen?

Maybe 30? Its more than two dozen – a whole half dozen more!

You don’t need to hear my internal monologue – but its more than just 30; 7 of those stories also found second homes, in cool places like Pseudopod (2 stories made it there) and Tales to Terrify, and the anthology CHTHONIC. So maybe I am a writer. Writerish. Writing aligned?

All this is just a way to say, my 30th published story appears in CRUX Volume 1 – “Australian Speculative Fiction” – which is available here at this link you can click on right now. It is called The American, and I am very pleased with it. Self praise is every recommendation šŸ™‚

Plus another story coming out next month.

Plus I just finished another one that is out there now, just released into the wilds, looking for a home.

Maybe its when you finish that novel. Or publish it. Or publish 10?
